How a turn works

Roll six dice, set aside at least one scoring die, then choose to roll the rest or bank what you have. Score nothing on a roll and you farkle: the whole turn is lost. If all six dice score, you have hot dice and roll all six again with the total carried over. Most houses play to 10,000 with a 500-point minimum for your first bank.

Common questions

Do you have to keep every scoring die?
No. You only have to set aside at least one scoring die each roll. Keeping fewer dice aside leaves more dice to roll, which is often the better gamble early in a turn.
What is the minimum to get on the board?
The most common house rule is 500 points in a single turn before you can bank anything. Some families play 1,000, others play no minimum at all.
