Cards and wilds
Jokers and 2s are wild. Red 3s are bonus cards: they are laid down at once and replaced (100 each, 800 for all four). Black 3s can only be melded when you go out, and discarding one blocks the pile for your opponent's next turn.
Canasta is a rummy-style game played with two decks and four Jokers. You build melds of the same rank, grow them into seven-card canastas, and score bonuses. This is the classic two-hand version: draw two, discard one, and you need two canastas to go out.

Draw two cards from the stock, or take the whole discard pile. Then meld if you like, and finish by discarding one card.
A meld is three or more cards of the same rank with at least two natural cards and no more than three wilds. Seven cards make a canasta: 500 for a natural one, 300 for a mixed one.
Your first meld each round must be worth enough points: 50 below 1,500 total, 90 from 1,500, 120 from 3,000 (15 if your score is negative). Jokers count 50, Aces and 2s 20, 8–K 10, 4–7 and black 3s 5.
To take the pile you must use its top card in a meld. If the pile is frozen (a wild card was discarded into it) or you haven't melded yet, you need two natural cards of the same rank from your hand.
Once you have two canastas you may go out by melding or discarding your last card (100 bonus, 200 if done in one go without having melded before). Cards left in hand count against you. Play to 1,500 for a quick game or 5,000 for the classic.
